Week 8 Starts/Sits – TNF 6pm Sunday

Without doubt, the biggest head scratcher of a fantasy football player is deciding who to start in their line-up each week. There is nothing worse than leaving a game on your bench and spending the entirety of the next week dwelling in hindsight.

Whether you’re in 1 league or 100 leagues, setting your line-ups is the most crucial part of your fantasy week and we’re here to let you know which players are in the best environments to boom and which are most likely destined to bust.

Don’t forget to keep your #EyesPeeled for tomorrow’s podcast where we dive into a full preview of the weekend games and make sure you head over to Twitter (@F10YFantasy) for “Start ‘em, sit ‘em, GIF ‘EM!”.

Spoiler alert: I’m committing a heinous fantasy act (so to speak), see if you can spot it.

Thursday Night Football

Matchup: Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers

Mike Ehrmann - Getty Images

Start of the Game

Teddy Bridgewater – Quarterback – Carolina Panters

The true TB of the NFC South, TB5! Well, in our hearts anyway. Seriously though, this is a game made for Teddy H2O to ball out against the team who gives up the most fantasy points to QBs. In Week 5, Teddy notched just over 20 points against the Falcons, nothing has happened since then to make me think he won’t perform just as well.

Other Notable Starts

Atlanta Falcons – Julio Jones – Wide Receiver

Carolina Panthers – Robby Anderson – Wide Receiver, Mike Davis – Running Back, Ian Thomas – Tight End

Curtis Compton - AP

Sit of the Game

Hayden Hurst – Tight End – Atlanta Falcons

Forgive me, sweet Hayden. It kills me to do this again but Carolina rank in the top 10 against Tight Ends and whilst double-aitch ranks in the top ten of TEs himself, I suspect there are better streamer options out there this week especially if your roster is a bit bye-week-muddled. For example, Ian Thomas! Three straight weeks for poor Hayden as a Sit ‘Em. Three!

Other Notable Sits

Altanta Falcons – Todd Gurley – Running Back

Carolina Panthers – N/A

Sunday Early Games

Matchup: New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills

James P McCoy - AP

Start of the Game

Stefon Diggs – Wide Receiver – Buffalo Bills

A toughie to pick for Fantasy here. The Patriots have nothing offensively other than just being downright offensive to watch. That leaves us looking at the Buffalo side of the ball and the best matchup seems to be the receivers against a Patriots secondary that is continuing to disappoint. I don’t expect Diggs and co. to be held out of the endzone for two straight weeks.

Other Notable Starts

New England Patriots – N/A

Buffalo Bills – Gabriel Davis – Wide Receiver

Mark Konezny - USA Today Sports

Sit of the Game

Tyler Kroft – Tight End – Buffalo Bills

It’s not any great shakes that we’re ignoring New England here so let’s reel in the Bills. The Pats defend against TEs very well (ranking 4th in fantasy) and whilst Kroft will see the bulk of the TE snaps, that doesn’t mean they’ll amount to anything. Caveat emptor.

Other Notable Sits

New England Patriots – Julian Edelman – Wide Receiver, Ryan Izzo – Tight End

Buffalo Bills – Devin Singletary – Running Back

Matchup: Tennessee Titans @ Cincinnati Bengals

Troy Taormina - USA Today

Start of the Game

Jonnu Smith – Tight End – Tennessee Titans

Looks like Jonnu is going to be fully healthy this week and I believe he’ll turn it around after totals of 1.3 and 0.9 across the last fortnight. The Bengals love to give it up to TEs and I don’t see them rounding that corner on Sunday.

Other Notable Starts

Tennessee Titans – Corey Davis – Wide Receiver, A.J Brown – Wide Receiver

Cincinnati Bengals – Joe Burrow – Quarterback, Drew Sample – Tight End, Tee Higgins – Wide Receiver

Joseph Maiorana - USA Today

Sit of the Game

A.J Green – Wide Receiver – Cincinnati Bengals

I know, I know. He has turned up – sort of – the last fortnight and yes, the Bengals give it up against Wide Receivers. However, am I alone in thinking that Tee Higgins has crept up to the WR2 spot behind Boyd? If that’s the case, unless you’re rocking a 12-team 3WR/2-flex league then can you justify starting Green? I can’t.

Other Notable Sits

Tennessee Titans – N/A

Cincinnati Bengals – N/A

Matchup: Los Angeles Rams @ Miami Dolphins

Mark J Terrill - AP

Start of the Game

Darrell Henderson – Running Back – Los Angeles Rams

Henderson split his work with Malcolm Brown on MNF and when you throw Cam Akers into the mix, the backfield can look a bit of a mess from a fantasy perspective. However, Henderson has logged three straight weeks of more than a dozen carries per game and with bye weeks and injuries decimating the backfield options for fantasy players, he’s a must start.

Other Notable Starts

Los Angeles Rams – Jared Goff – Quarterback

Miami Dolphins – N/A

Kathryn Riley - Getty Images

Sit of the Game

Myles Gaskin – Running Back – Miami Dolphins

Since I told you all to sit Gaskin against Seattle he clearly read this post and took it to heart logging double-digit points in the last fortnight. However, the Rams defensive line is great, Tua’s going to be scrambling for his life and the Dolphins are likely playing from behind early doors. It’s a tricky matchup this week for Gaskin.

Other Notable Sits

Los Angeles Rams – Tyler Higbee – Tight End

Miami Dolphins – Preston Williams – Wide Receiver

Matchup: Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers

Hannah Foselin - Getty Images

Start of the Game

Justin Jefferson – Wide Receiver – Minnesota Vikings

Jefferson has pretty much made himself a WR1 but with Adam More-Than-A-Thielen still putting up the points himself, let’s call him a WR1.5. Either way, if he finds himself matched up against Kevin King rather than Jaire Alexander I fancy him to go hot rather than cold.

Cold? Jefferson? His scores this season are rather…hormonal: 2.6/4.4/23.5/10.3/3.3/30.6.

Other Notable Starts

Minnesota Vikings – Adam Thielen – Wide Receiver

Green Bay Packers – Jamaal Williams – Running Back

Dylan Buell - Getty Images

Sit of the Game

Kyle Rudolph – Tight End – Minnesota Vikings

The Packers are a top five fantasy D against the Tight End so far this season and even without knowing that, Kyle Rudolph isn’t the player to get your fantasy juices flowing, registering over 5 points just once (Week 3 vs Titans).

Other Notable Sits

Minnesota Vikings – DST

Green Bay Packers – N/A

Matchup: Indianapolis Colts @ Detroit Lions

Julio Aguilar - Getty Images

Start of the Game

Jonathan Taylor – Running Back – Indianapolis Colts

The Lions don’t defend the run particularly well and this guy logs double digit carries a game as well as catching a couple each game too. This doesn’t bode too well for Detroit and provided the Colts don’t find themselves falling behind like they did against Cincinnati, Taylor should see plenty of work.

Other Notable Starts

Indianapolis Colts – N/A

Detroit Lions – Kenny Golladay – Wide Receiver, TJ Hockenson – Tight End

Phelan M Ebenhack - AP

Sit of the Game

T.Y Hilton – Wide Receiver – Indianapolis Colts

I sat him in the week before the Colts bye and I’m going to continue that trend. Until I see his ‘Start %’ drop towards single digits I’m going to bang the drum to say DO. NOT. START. THIS. GUY. He has a high of 69 reception yardsthis year. Bleurgh.

Other Notable Sits

Indianapolis Colts – Trey Burton – Tight End

Detroit Lions – N/A

Matchup: Las Vegas Raiders @ Cleveland Browns

David Zalubowski - AP

Start of the Game

Derek Carr – Quarterback – Las Vegas Raiders

Is it time we start showing Derek Carr some love? He’s tickling around 20 PPG having faced four top 10 Ds in the last six games he’s played this year. Sunday’s matchup against the Browns has the makings of a chaotic shootout and whilst he may throw a pick, I like Carr for a big day here.

Other Notable Starts

Las Vegas Raiders – Henry Ruggs III – Wide Receiver

Cleveland Browns – Rashard Higgins – Wide Receiver

Scott Galvin - USA Today Sports

Sit of the Game

David Njoku – Tight End – Cleveland Browns

Obviously Njoku saw an uptick in usage this week but with the emergence of Harrison Bryant I think there are other TEs you can stream this week. Njoku has been targeted ten times across four games he’s seen the field this year.

Other Notable Sits

Las Vegas Raiders – N/A

Cleveland Browns – N/A

Matchup: Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Eric Espada - Getty Images

Start of the Game

Marquise Brown – Wide Receiver – Baltimore Ravens

He let me down a fortnight ago against Philly but in what should be a more competitive game against the Steelers who are a bit weak against Wide Receivers this is the week we saw Brown bounce back.

Other Notable Starts

Baltimore Ravens – N/A

Pittsburgh Steelers – Ben Roethlisberger – Quarterback, Chase Claypool – Wide Receiver

Rob Carr - Getty Images

Sit of the Game

Gus Edwards – Running Back – Baltimore Ravens

Despite the likely absence of Mark Ingram this week, let’s not forget that the Steelers defend the run very well and Edwards hasn’t scored double digits this season as yet. File him under the ‘Start If You Must’ label.

Other Notable Sits

Baltimore Ravens – N/A

Pittsburgh Steelers – James Connor – Running Back

Matchup: Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Jets

Charlie Riedel - AP

Start of the Game

Clyde Edwards-Helaire – Running Back – Kansas City Chiefs

Revenge game klaxon. However, although every primal instinct I have wants me to say start Lev Bell, you can’t guarantee he’ll see that many more snaps this Sunday. However, I expect this to get so ugly for the Jets that we’ll see CEH sat after a dominant two and a half quarters then Bell, Williams and even DeAndre Washington will see garbage time snaps.

Other Notable Starts

Kansas City Chiefs – DST, LeVeon Bell – Running Back, Damien Williams – Running Back, DeAndre Washington – Running Back

New York Jets – N/A

Tom Pennington - Getty Images

Sit of the Game

DeMarcus Robinson – Wide Receiver – Kansas City Chiefs

Disclaimer: This Sit ‘Em is predicated on Sammy Watkins not making it back.

Who figures to replace Watkins? A tandem of Hardman and Robinson. Who suffers in blowouts? The leading team’s pass-catchers. So for those of you thinking of a sneaky pickup for one of these two I’d err on the side of caution.

Other Notable Sits

Kansas City Chiefs – Mecole Hardman – Wide Receiver

New York Jets – Sam Darnold – Quarterback, Braxton Berrios – Wide Receiver, Frank Gore – Running Back
