Week 4 Starts/Sits – Sunday Late Games, SNF and MNF

By Andy Goddard @Godsy1985

Another week passes in the 2020 NFL season and the Atlanta Falcons have blown yet another big lead, this time allowing the Chicago Bears (lead by Nick Foles) to score 20 unanswered points in the 4th quarter! The Bills and Seahawks gave their fans a fright as they also gave up big leads but managed to pick up the wins.

Whilst these comebacks can be painful for fans of the teams concerned, they make great television and also help our fantasy teams. Thats a big win in my eyes!

Which games in week 4 will provide the most drama? Lets delve into the starts and sits from the late slate of games.

Don’t forget to keep your #EyesPeeled for tomorrow’s podcast where we dive into a full preview of the weekend games and make sure you head over to Twitter (@F10YFantasy) for “Start ‘em, sit ‘em, GIF ‘EM!”.

Spoiler alert: Jared Goff is a start ‘em.

Sunday Late Games

New York Giants @ LA Rams

Start of the Game

Jared Goff (QB) – LA Rams

Goff was involved in one of the week 3 comeback stories last weekend, but his LA Rams just came up just short against the Bills. He struggled in the first half, but then turned it on in the second, finishing with 321 yards passing, two touchdowns and a rushing TD. He is up against the Giants defence this week that just allowed Nick Mullens and the 49ers junior varsity team to put up 343 yards through the air and 36 points. This could get ugly!

Other Notable Starts

New York Giants – Evan Engram (TE)

LA Rams – Robert Woods (WR), Darrell Henderson (RB), Cooper Kupp (WR)

Sit of the Game

Darius Slayton (WR) – New York Giants

After a break out fantasy performance in week 1, Slayton has cooled considerably. Last week he lead the Giants in receiving yards – but that was no great accomplishment when you look at the numbers. He had just 53 yards all game! This week he will be covered by Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey + Giants offense = Sit!!

Other Notable Sits

New York Giants – Defence/Special Teams, Devonta Freeman (RB)

LA Rams – N/A

Buffalo Bills @ Las Vegas Raiders

Start of the Game

John Brown (WR) – Buffalo Bills

This is dependent on how serious Brown’s calf injury is but, if he is fit, it’s a definite start! Brown had been very consistent the first two weeks of the season and the speedster is built to burn the young secondary of the Raiders. Should Brown not be fit for Sunday then look for Cole Beasley and Stefon Diggs to pick up the slack.

Other Notable Starts

Buffalo Bills – Josh Allen (QB), Cole Beasley (WR), Stefon Diggs (WR)

Las Vegas Raiders – Darren Waller (TE), Hunter Renfrow (WR), Josh Jacobs (RB)

Sit of the Game

Derek Carr (QB) – Las Vegas Raiders

Carr is accurate! Through three weeks on the 2020 season he has completed 74% of his passes and has 6 touchdowns to 0 interceptions, but he struggled last week against the Patriots. With Jacobs slowed in the run game and tight end Darren Waller blanketed, Renfrow became the ‘go to guy’. This week he is up against another strong defence and both Jacobs and Waller are carrying injuries.

Other Notable Sits

Buffalo Bills – N/A

Las Vegas Raiders – Defence/Special Teams, Nelson Agholor (WR)

New England Patriots @ Kansas City Chiefs

Start of the Game

Tyreek Hill (WR) – Kansas City Chiefs

Tyreek Hill has had back to back games of over 100 total yards and has scored a touchdown in each of the first three games of the 2020 season. The Patriots, and Coach Bill Belichick, normally do a good job of covering Hill but he is always just one play away from breaking something deep and the Patriots have been burned deep by lesser receivers already this season.

Other Notable Starts

New England Patriots – Julian Edelman (WR)

Kansas City Chiefs – Patrick Mahomes (QB), Travis Kelce (TE)

Sit of the Game

All New England Patriots Running Backs

This isn’t a pick due to the quality of the Pats running backs. In week 3, Rex Burkhead scored three touchdowns and Sony Michel ran for 117 yards on just 9 carries. It’s not even the opposition that scares me, in fact I think the running backs match up well against the Chiefs defence. Damien Harris and James White could back in the mix this week. You just don’t know which one of the 4 running backs will be utilised on the day!

Other Notable Sits

New England Patriots – Cam Newton (QB) (OUT), Defence/Special Teams

Kansas City Chiefs – N/A

Sunday Night Football

Philadelphia Eagles @ San Francisco 49ers

Start of the Game

Miles Sanders (RB) – Philadelphia Eagles

Sanders has notched exactly 95 yards on the ground in each of his two starts in 2020. In this battle of the ‘banged-up’ teams your choices are pretty limited. Quarterback Carson Wentz has been struggling and the 49ers defence has injuries in some key areas. If the Eagles hope to get anything from this game, Sanders has to have a big day. With injuries to DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffrey and Jalen Reagor, Sanders will also look to be more involved in the passing game.

Other Notable Starts

Philadelphia Eagles – Zach Ertz (TE)

San Francisco 49ers – Jerick McKinnon (RB), George Kittle (TE), Defence/Special Teams

Sit of the Game

Carson Wentz (QB) – Philadelphia Eagles

Performances so far this season haven’t been great for Wentz with questions already being asked as to whether he should be benched in favour of rookie Jalen Hurts! This week he is up against a stronger defence and is very limited with an injured and banged up supporting cast.

Other Notable Sits

Philadelphia Eagles – Corey Clement (RB)

San Francisco 49ers – Mohamed Sanu (WR)

Monday Night Football

Atlanta Falcons @ Green Bay Packers

Start of the Game

Marquez Valdes-Scantling (WR) – Green Bay Packers

MVS has been battling it out with Allen Lazard for the WR2 role in Green Bay through the first 3 weeks of the season. However, with Davante Adams questionable and Allen Lazard out for the foreseeable future, it’s time for MVS to step up against a porous Falcons defense.

Other Notable Starts

Atlanta Falcons – Matt Ryan (QB), Calvin Ridley (WR)

Green Bay Packers – Aaron Rodgers (QB), Aaron Jones (RB)

Sit of the Game

Defence/Special Teams – Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons defence are consistent! They have scored 0.0 fantasy points in each of the first 3 weeks of the 2020 season, are ranked 31st and have allowed two big comebacks in the past two weeks! Whilst the comebacks are not all on the defence, they do have a propensity to give up big plays and blow coverages. This week they face Aaron Rodgers and a Green Bay Packers offense that are scoring for fun! On a positive note I don’t see them blowing a big lead this week, they wont have one!

Other Notable Sits

Atlanta Falcons – Hayden Hurst (TE)

Green Bay Packers – N/A
