Week 15 Starts/Sits – Sunday Late Games, SNF & MNF

By Dave Moore (@davieremixed)

Without doubt, the biggest head scratcher of a fantasy football player is deciding who to start in their line-up each week. There is nothing worse than leaving a game on your bench and spending the entirety of the next week dwelling in hindsight.

Whether you’re in 1 league or 100 leagues, setting your line-ups is the most crucial part of your fantasy week and we’re here to let you know which players are in the best environments to boom and which are most likely destined to bust.

Don’t forget to keep your #EyesPeeled for tomorrow’s podcast where we dive into a full preview of the weekend games and make sure you head over to Twitter (@F10YFantasy) for “Start ‘em, sit ‘em, GIF ‘EM!”.

Spoiler alert: The Jets STINK. Just thinking about them turns me into Calmwood Mental Hospital-era Jay Sherman (ten points to the first one who gets that reference).

Sunday Late Games

Matchup: New York Jets @ Los Angeles Rams

Start of the Game

Jared Goff – Quarterback – Los Angeles Rams

Let’s see what an un-hurried Jared Goff can do against this Jets team. Not much else to say here other than I expect him to beat up on the Jets and maximise Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods and even a bit of Tyler Higbee in what’ll be a Seahawks-style decimation of Gang Green.

Other Notable Starts

New York Jets – N/A

Los Angeles Rams – Cooper Kupp – Wide Receiver, Robert Woods – Wide Receiver, Tyler Higbee – Tight End

Mark J Terrill - AP

Sit of the Game

Darrell Henderson – Running Back – Los Angeles Rams

As easy as it is to narrow down which team to pick a start from, it’s equally as difficult to pick someone to sit. We all know the Jets are rancid. Yes, there’s the occasional game from Crowder or even Darnold but in reality, you’re only starting them out of desperation. For that reason, after whiffing on Cam Akers last week, let’s assume he’s now RB1 for good and that’ll be game over for Henderson in your team. The running back is the one area the Jets don’t rank in the bottom five against so there’s also that to cling onto.

Other Notable Sits

New York Jets – Frank Gore – Running Back

Los Angeles Rams – N/A

Matchup: Philadelphia Eagles @ Arizona Cardinals

Bill Streicher - USA Today Sports

Start of the Game

Jalen Hurts – Quarterback – Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts the Saints! Read all about it! Now, enough of that silliness. His mobility and general play opens up so many options for the Eagles and with the Cardinals not exactly having much tape on him I like him to have another good game here. They rank just outside the top 10 against QBs in Fantasy so this is a bit of a flier but with other QBs faltering down the stretch he’s definitely worth a play this week.

Other Notable Starts

Philadelphia Eagles – Alshon Jeffrey – Wide Receiver

Arizona Cardinals – Dan Arnold – Tight End

Sit of the Game

Christian Kirk – Wide Receiver – Arizona Cardinals

For the final time this season let’s spin this record. Against the Giants, Christian Kirk had the second most targets for WRs with a paltry four. 3/14/0 was his final line, he’s without a score in five games and has reached 50 yards just once in that stretch. I thought he may have been a viable WR2 at the start of the year but his value has just evaporated quicker than the Bengals offensive line.

Other Notable Sits

Philadelphia Eagles – Travis Fulgham – Wide Receiver

Arizona Cardinals – N/A

Matchup: Kansas City Chiefs @ New Orleans Saints

Derick E. Hingle - USA Today Sports

Start of the Game

Latavius Murray – Running Back – New Orleans Saints

The only hope I see for the Saints this week is by running the ball, controlling the clock and hoping to keep Patrick Mahomes off the field for as long as possible. Murray was anonymous against the Eagles but I expect a return to form against a Chiefs team that ranks in the bottom ten against RBs. Fun fact – they’re actually ranked BELOW the Jets against RBs!

Other Notable Starts

Kansas City Chiefs – Mecole Hardman – Wide Receiver

New Orleans Saints – Taysom Hill – Quarterback

Butch Dill - AP

Sit of the Game

Emmanuel Sanders – Wide Receiver – New Orleans Saints

Sanders doesn’t offer enough production in what is a run-first/Thomas-second offense. As such, until Brees is healthy (which could be too late for your season), you can’t start him in good faith. Especially as this Chiefs team are dominant against WRs.

Other Notable Sits

Kansas City Chiefs – Sammy Watkins – Wide Receiver

New Orleans Saints – N/A

Sunday Night Football

Matchup: Cleveland Browns @ New York Giants

Jason Miller - Getty Images

Start of the Game

Baker Mayfield – Quarterback – Cleveland Browns

I know the G-Men are a top-5 team against the QB but Baker has been Fantasy dynamite in the last fortnight as the Browns put up 40+ points each time on the back of 300+ yard games from their QB. I know the maths isn’t as strong here as it is for most other starts but something tells me Baker and the Browns are going to shake off that Baltimore defeat and roll up on New York.

Other Notable Starts

Cleveland Browns – Rashard Higgins – Wide Receiver

New York Giants – Wayne Gallman – Running Back

Danielle Parhizkaran - North Jersey.com

Sit of the Game

Golden Tate – Wide Receiver – New York Giants

Tate hasn’t gone above four receptions in a single game over the last five weeks and whilst he led the Giants in receiving yards last week it was a measly line of 1/39/0. Not ideal. He gets out-targeted by both Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard and as such can’t even be considered a viable WR3 in your playoffs.

Other Notable Sits

Cleveland Browns – N/A

New York Giants – N/A

Monday Night Football

Matchup: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals

Jeffrey Becker - Jeffrey Becker

Start of the Game

Juju Smith-Schuster – Wide Receiver – Pittsburgh Steelers

As the Steelers have faltered, Juju has got his mojo back somewhat (yes, he’s still only WR24 in the last four weeks) but this is a favourable matchup and frankly, these Steelers receivers need to start catching passes at some point so why not beat up on a DOA Bengals team? Come on Pittsburgh, show some life.

Other Notable Starts

Pittsburgh Steelers – Diontae Johnson – Wide Receiver

Cincinnati Bengals – N/A

Aaron Doster - USA Today Sports

Sit of the Game

Giovani Bernard – Running Back – Cincinnati Bengals

Speaking as a man who is heavily invested in Joe Mixon and then felt very smug when managing to pick up Bernard when Mixon got hurt, this is a painful, painful situation. If – like me – you’ve had no luck with RBs this year then you are probably stuck with him but can you justify starting him when he’s not breached double digits since the Bengals Week 9 bye? Oh and by the way, they’re playing an angry division rival in the Steelers.

Other Notable Sits

Pittsburgh Steelers – N/A

Cincinnati Bengals – Samaje Perine – Running Back
