So, that’s it, the final Hype Train article of the year. I’m not crying… you are. I must offer credit to James for driving the train for the majority of the season, you’ve done a stellar job with the article – thank you.

It’s the most important week of the year. No, not Christmas, fantasy Championship week. We’re being treated to games on Christmas Day (Friday), Boxing Day (Saturday), Sunday and Monday! Great for NFL fans but, fantasy managers, how are your nerves? At this point, we’re only picking up players who have a chance for starting for your team this week.

TOP TIP: If you’re benching anybody for the games on Friday and Saturday, drop them as soon as the game starts for another player playing later in the week. However, check that your league allows this to happen – otherwise, drop them moments before each game kicks off.

Don’t forget to keep your #EyesPeeled for the weekly recap podcast where we discuss some of our favourite waiver wire targets in a bit more detail.

1st Class Ticket

The 1st class ticket section covers players who will be the top targets on the wire and the hot ticket.

Drew Lock – QB – Denver Broncos

Ownership Percentage: 32%

Recommended FAAB Budget: 40%

Which Drew Lock are we going to get in week 16? The 4 TD, 280 yard week 14 Lock? Or the 1 TD, 132 yard week 15 Lock? It’s the most important question we could be asking ourselves this week and, ultimately, a Championship decider. I’m going to put myself out on a Lynn here (the Broncos play the Chargers in week 16) and say it’s the former.

Lock’s third best fantasy performance of the season came against the Chargers in week 8, where they narrowly won 31-30. Neither team has improved defensively and both still hover near the bottom of the AFC West. Herbert will be putting up numbers as he continues his bid for offensive rookie of the year and Lock will need to keep up if the Chargers have any chance of winning this one.

Tony Pollard – RB – Dallas Cowboys

Ownership Percentage: 53%

Recommended FAAB Budget: 25%

What’s the message been for the past few weeks? Handcuff your starters!!! Zeke was a late scratch from this one with his calf injury and Pollard stepped up to the mark against a tricky 49ers run defense with 12 carries for 69 yards (nice) and 2 touchdowns and 9 targets, 6 receptions and 63 receiving yards. Have a day, Tony.

Pollard has looked more explosive in stretches of this season than Zeke and it certainly wouldn’t surprise me to see Pollard start in place of him against next week. Of course this is reliant on Zeke still being injured, but even though Dallas do still have a chance at the playoffs (yikes), I think they’d rather shut him down at this point if necessary. Pollard is a must start if they do.

Darnell Mooney – WR – Chicago Bears

Ownership Percentage: 25%

Recommended FAAB Budget: 25%

I’ve been banging the Mooney drum in the “advance ticket” section of the article for weeks. And now folks, the time is here. It’s a matchup against the Jags for the Bears and expect them to put up numbers here. Allen Robinson is an obvious start, but Darnell Mooney is now the WR2 in this offense. I’m not claiming All-Pro status for Trubisky, but he’s certainly rejuvenated since his benching.

Mooney had 49 yards and a touch against the Vikings last week and there’s definitely more in the tank for this week. My season long prophecy is coming to fruition this week – take it to the bank.

Dalton Schultz – TE – Dallas Cowboys

Ownership Percentage: 25%

Recommended FAAB Budget: 15%

#AlwaysJarwinSchultz – the very hashtag that our brand is built on deserves a final hurrah in week 16. It’s a divisional matchup against the Eagles for the Boys this week that, incredibly, still has playoff implications. Hurts has given a new lease of life to the Eagles and Dallas will need to come prepared for a shootout. This could actually be a really good game.

Against the 49ers, a really difficult matchup, Schultz only managed 2 receptions for 14 yards – but one of these went for a touchdown. It’s a much better matchup for him this week and I expect a nice floor from him. It was a 6 reception, 53 yard performance against the Eagles in week 8. A repeat of this and a touchdown would be very nice indeed.
