BAFA National Leagues; Week 9 Roundup

Saturday 8th June & Sunday 9th June – By Thomas Rowberry (@Rowberry_)

Week 9 of the BAFA National Leagues saw perhaps the closest set of games since Full10Yards started covering British American Football with 6 games being decided by a field goal or less; the Sheffield Giants, East Kilbride Pirates, Glasgow Tigers, Hertfordshire Cheetahs, Cambridgeshire Cats and Lincolnshire Bombers all managed to come out of the weekend with hard fought Ws.

There were still a few shutouts this weekend with the Jurassic Coast Raptors, Chester Romans, Solent Thrashers, Leeds Bobcats, Birmingham Bulls and Torbay Trojans all managing to shutout their opponents.

Perhaps the result of the weekend saw the Lancashire Wolverines ‘upset’ the Nottingham Caesars 36-16. The Caesars went into the game coming off back to back victories against the Doncaster Mustangs and Shropshire Revolution whilst the Lancashire Wolverines went into the game off the back of a 59-6 beat down at the hands of the Sandwell Steelers. Nottingham now sit at 4-3 whilst the Wolverines keep their playoff hopes alive at 3-3.

BAFA National League Week 8 Roundup

Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd June – By Thomas Rowberry

Week 9 of the BAFA National Leagues saw 18 games take place across the weekend with the Tamworth Phoenix, Leicester Falcons, Aberdeen Roughnecks and Yorkshire Rams kicking off the weekend’s action on Saturday. In their previous encounter on opening day the Rams were on the end of a 42-point shutout against the Roughnecks, this week following a strong defensive performance they managed to return the favour (yes that scoreline is correct! Straight out of our football, that one!).

Sundays action saw a further three shutouts with the London Warriors, Solent Thrashers and Portsmouth Dreadnoughts all holding their opponents to zero points. In what is becoming a regular occurrence there were more blowouts than close games throughout the three tiers of the game with 12 games being decided by more than one score. We did however get a tie with the Ipswich Cardinals and Norwich Devils battling to a 31-31 deadlock in a thriller that saw the lead change multiple times in the 4th qtr.

BAFA National Leagues Week 7 Roundup

Sunday May 26th

Week 7 of the BAFA National Leagues saw a considerably less congested schedule with only 14 games taking place throughout the three tiers of British American Football. We still saw a bunch of blowouts this week with eleven of the fourteen games played having a score differential of more than one touchdown. For the second week in a row there were 50-point blowouts with the London Warriors, Nottingham Caesars and Bournemouth Bobcats all managing to eclipse the 50-point mark.

BAFA National Leagues: Week 6 Roundup

Sunday May 19th – By Thomas Rowberry

Week 6 of the BAFA National Leagues (Adult) saw some truly incredible score-lines throughout all three tiers of British American Football. The big talking points coming out of this week’s games are that from the twenty-one games played we saw five 50-point performances (two of which were 60+ point outings) and four dominant shutouts with Tamworth, Northumberland, Birmingham and the East Kent Mavericks refusing to surrender a single point.
