In this draft, I am playing devil’s advocate in that the Cardinals don’t get the value they want from any team to trade up to 1 overall.
#1 – Arizona Cardinals – Quinnen Williams (DT) – Alabama
I think the Cardinals will not get what they want to trade back so take the best player in the draft. Kyler Murray will not go to the Cardinals at #1 overall.
#2 – San Francisco – Nick Bosa (EDGE) – Ohio State
With Bosa off the board, don’t be surprised if they fielded offers here from teams wanting to take Murray. That said, they take Josh Allen, the SEC defensive player of the year.
#3 – *Trade* Oakland Raiders ( From New York Jets) Kyler Murray (QB) – Oklahoma
Oakland trade up one spot to ensure they get Kyler Murray. They give up very little to do so, pick 106 and a 2020 3rd.
#4 – New York Jets – Ed Oliver (DT) – Houston
The Jets may move further back still with the Giants (or the Redskins) but I have them taking Ed Oliver, who is getting a lot of buz about going in the top 5.
#5 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Devin White (LB) – LSU
After seeing Kwon Alexander head for the exit door, another Louisiana State Linebacker joins the team to help elevate this defence that played under itself last year.
#6 –New York Giants – Josh Allen (EDGE) – Kentucky
Giants need a help on both lines and Gettleman sticks true to his word of going lineman with his first pick in the first round.
#7 – Jacksonville Jaguars– Jawaan (OT) – Florida
Jacksonville have the defence and they want to run the ball. The Andrew Norwell signing was quite as effective as they perhaps would’ve liked but they use this pick to add even more talent to the line.
#8 – Detroit Lions – Rashan Gary (EDGE) Michigan
Gary wont have to travel far from his College days for the NFL. He will be a lovely piece to have and is a guy that Patricia would love to have on the team. Ziggy Ansah’s injury history isn’t great at the moment so Sweat will offer a good void filler or even as an addition to Ansah on the other side of the D-line
#9 – Buffalo Bills – Andre Dillard (OT) – Washington St.
Buffalo still need to repair the holes on the offensive line. Especially more so now that Josh Allen has some people to throw to.
#10 –Denver Broncos – Devin Bush (LB) – Michigan
I don’t think Denver will go QB first up. Instead, Vic Fangio always gets a piece for his defences over the years and here is no different.
#11 – Cincinatti Bengals – Brian Burns (EDGE) – Florida St.
Cincinatti don’t take a Quarterback here either but instead get a great day one starter on the defence who needs some stars.
#12 – Green Bay Packers – TJ Hockenson (TE) Iowa
Best case scenario here for the Packers who get the best TE in the draft. Jonah Williams may be another option here falling this far, but considering the amount they’ve done on offence in Free Agency, it’s time to focus on the offence.
#13 – *TRADE* Houston Texans – Jonah Williams (G) – Alabama
Miami trade back and Houston come up to fill a big need ahead Carolina and New York Giants who were starting to lick their lips at the prospect (no pun intended) of Williams falling to them. Houston give up a 3rd pick and a later 2020 round pick to move up here.
#14 – Atlanta Falcons – Montez Sweat (EDGE) – Mississippi State
Atlanta would have loved Ed Oliver to fall but get a nice pick up here in Sweat to help add depth to what was a decimated defence in 2018
#15 – Washington Redskins – Dwayne Haskins (QB) – Ohio St.
Perfect scenario if Washinton want to take a QB with Haskins . Could quite easily go WR or Tight End here but considering the cap invested at QB, this makes sense.
#16 – Carolina Panthers – Clelin Ferrell (EDGE) – Clemson
After losing Peppers this offseason, edge rush becomes a top priority and they fill it with the guy from Clemson.
#17 – New York Giants – Greg Little (T) – Mississippi
Everyone may expect a QB here but again, Gettleman usually follows through on what he says and takes offensive line this time.
#18 – Minnesota Vikings – Garrett Bradbury (C) – N.C. State
Minnesota need to protect their $84m guaranteed quarterback. Bradbury can start anywhere on the line and is solid in both run blocking and pass protection.
#19 – Tennessee Titans – Dexter Lawrence (DT) – Clemson
Noah Fant could be an option for the Titans, with Delanie Walker not being able to be too healthy and Jonnu Smith not seemingly making enough waves. That said, they probably rush up to podium here and take Dexter Lawrence to add to their already strong defence.
#20 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Greedy Williams (CB) – LSU
Greedy Williams screams Pittsburgh. Doesn’t like to tackle but is great at making plays, something the Steelers need on the back end.
#21 – Seattle Seahawks – Christian Wilkins (DT) – Clemson
Wilkins brings versatility and can overpower at the line. Wilkins is a hard worker, what the Seattle D is all about. They do need to replace Frank Clark and may address that with pick 29.
#22 – Baltimore Ravens – Marquise Brown (WR) – Oklahoma
Hollywood comes to Baltimore. Yes, the Ravens are a run first team. But you need at least someone to catch the eye of opposing linebackers rather than just loading the box and funnily enough, Brown would be a great fit here. May only catch 30 balls, but still.
#23 – Miami Dolphins (from Houston) – Drew Lock (QB) – Missouri
With a QB sitting there in Drew Lock, it would be stupid not take him. A QB for which you’ve had to pay nothing to go up and get? Yes,. They have lots of holes, but Lock learning from Fitzmagic will be valuable for Miami.
#24 Oakland Raiders (from Chicago) – BYRON MURPHY (CB) – Washington
The Raiders use their second pick of the 1st round to help the back end of the defence who can contribute from day 1.
#25 – Philadelphia Eagles – Chris Lindstrom (G/C) – Boston College
Philadelphia could easily go on either side of the ball on either line, but here they add a piece on the line to help sure that up for the foreseeable future and help start building for life after Jason Peters when he hangs his cleats up.
#26 – Indianapolis Colts – Jerry Tillery (DT) – Notre Dame
Indy would have loved Dexter Lawrence but are sucker punched by the Eagles. That said, plenty of more fish in the sea. A dominant player to help start making this defence a great one.
#27 Oakland Raiders (from Dallas) – Noah Fant (TE) – Iowa
Oakland finish off with an offensive piece. Fant will immediately come in an replace Jared Cook and should see a lot of action!
#28 LA Chargers – Kaleb McGary (OT) – Washington
McGary at tackle would help solve a need, even if this is a guy who is rough around the edges. He’s athletic and could be a monster in the years to come.
#29 – Seattle Seahawks – DeAndre Baker (CB) – Georgia
Seattle need to replace pieces on their defence and DeAndre Baker is a steal here. That said, wouldn’t be surprised to see Seattle trade back out here.
#30 – Green Bay (from New Orleans) – Elgton Jenkins (G/C)
Green Bay could go Erik McCoy here too or maybe even Jeffrey Simmons but needs someone to win now. They need to start replacing some players on the line that may be leaving in the next few years.
#31 – Los Angeles Rams – Jeffrey Simmons (DT) – Mississippi State
Despite not being able to play for the most part if not all, Simmons is a top 10 talent if he had a healthy ACL. Rams add a piece to their defence for when they need to trim the salary cap in a year or so from now.
#32 – *TRADE* New York Giants (from New England Patriots) – Daniel Jones (QB) Duke
The Giants trade back in to the first round and take a punt on Daniel Jones. Don’t have to give up too much to get here either.
