Fantasy Football: Week 14 – Key Injuries and Their Gameday Status

**Updated 13/12 – 15:26 GMT/10:26 EST**

The one thing all of us fantasy players dread the most, injuries. Unfortunately, this is part and parcel with NFL life and it’s inevitable that at some point during the season one or more of your players will have the dreaded “questionable” or “doubtful” tags. The tricky bit is wading through the reports to find out the true status of your fantasy stud. Fantasy players are very often used as decoys when injured to fool defences, so it’s important that we’re sure that a player is 100% healthy before deploying into a line-up.

This article will take a look at the top injury concerns that we’re hearing about this week and provide a recommendation as to whether they should be starting for you or if you need to pick up their handcuff from the waiver wire.

Don’t forget to keep your #EyesPeeled for our Twitter feed (@F10YFantasy) this Sunday as we’ll be providing you with updated on the below mentioned injuries.

Top Injury Concern

Josh Jacobs – RB – Las Vegas Raiders

Injury: Ankle

Status: Questionable

UPDATE: Expected to play

Despite logging full practices at any point this week, Josh Jacobs is slated to play against the Colts. Devontae Booker didn’t make the most of his increased opportunity last week so Jacobs should receive a full complement of work this week. That being said, it’s a difficult matchup against the Colts and the Raiders could get behind in this one.

After the whooping by the Falcons and the Jets pushing them all of the way last week, the Raiders will be playing with a chip on their shoulder and looking to prove a point in this one. If he does indeed go, Jacobs starts for your fantasy team.

Other Injury Concerns

Ezekiel Elliott – RB – Dallas Cowboys

Injury: Calf

Status: Questionable

UPDATE: Expected to play

Somehow, Ezekiel Elliott is a top-10 fantasy running back on the season. He was electric in the first 5 weeks of the season (RB3) but without Dak and his offensive line dwindling, Zeke is struggling of late – he’s posted just 1 double digit PPR performance since week 5 (RB27 in this time). It’s a fair matchup against the Bengals, but he’s been struggling with his calf injury this week and Pollard has generally looked more explosive when on the field. Even if Zeke plays, if you’ve got a better option then you play them.

Keke Coutee/Brandin Cooks – WR – Houston Texans

Injury: Knee/ Ankle/Neck

Status: Questionable

Both Coutee and Cooks were looking like playing today but, in a very recent set back, Cooks is likely to sit this one out against the Bears. The WR saga in Houston continues as they’ve already lost Stills (released), Cobb (IR) and Fuller (suspended). Deshaun Watson loves a challenge and his performance against the Colts last week showed us that he can perform despite the supporting cast.

Coutee will likely fill the WR1 role in the offense after his 8-catch, 141-yard performance last week. The receivers next in line will be Chad Hansen and Isaiah Coulter but, with the Bears likely focusing their coverage on Coutee, it’s a roll of the dice which one will be the better option. Although I’m still rolling out Watson, I’m avoiding all of his passing options unless totally desperate.
