The one thing all of us fantasy players dread the most, injuries. Unfortunately, this is part and parcel with NFL life and it’s inevitable that at some point during the season one or more of your players will have the dreaded “questionable” or “doubtful” tags. The tricky bit is wading through the reports to find out the true status of your fantasy stud. Fantasy players are very often used as decoys when injured to fool defences, so it’s important that we’re sure that a player is 100% healthy before deploying into a line-up.
This article will take a look at the top injury concerns that we’re hearing about this week and provide a recommendation as to whether they should be starting for you or if you need to pick up their handcuff from the waiver wire.
Don’t forget to keep your #EyesPeeled for our Twitter feed (@F10YFantasy) this Sunday as we’ll be providing you with updated on the below mentioned injuries.
Top Injury Concern
Teddy Bridgewater – Quarterback – Carolina Panthers
UPDATE: Game time decision
Panthers’ QB Teddy Bridgewater wants to play Sunday against the Lions and plans to test his knee pre-game to see if he can, per sources. Bridgewater took the snaps during Saturday’s walkthrough practice. If Bridgewater doesn’t start Sunday, PJ Walker would be the expected starter— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) November 22, 2020
The world took a collective gasp last week when Teddy Bridgewater hit the deck with a knee injury. His road to recovery from his horrifying 2016 knee was one that everybody got behind and we all hold a special place in our hearts for the two gloved signal caller.
Thankfully, the injury sustained to Teddy was on his other knee and, just a week later, he could lead his Carolina Panthers team out against the Lions. Christian McCaffrey has already been ruled out so this offense will rely on Teddy (and Mike Davis) and his ability to get the ball to Robby Anderson, Curtis Samuel and DJ Moore.
The Lions are just dreadful against the run which means that Mike Davis should carve out a heavy role. But, if Teddy does sit, P.J. Walker will likely start and that would give the Lions the license to concentrate all of their efforts on stopping the run. If Teddy goes, I like him, Samuel, Anderson, Moore and Davis. If he doesn’t, I’m not liking any but would still start Davis. That’s how important Teddy has become to the Panthers.
The Panthers remain optimistic that Bridgewater plays.
Other Injury Concerns
Allen Lazard – WR – Green Bay Packers
Gameday Status: Questionable
UPDATE: Lazard expected to play with a limit on usage
#Packers WR Allen Lazard, activated this week following surgery for a core muscle injury, is expected to play today, source said. Lazard will be on a pitch count, as GB eases him in. But he should play.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 22, 2020
This concern is more for MVS managers than Lazard ones. That and the fact that there aren’t actually that many key fantasy player injury concerns headed into week 11.
We haven’t seen Lazard since week 3 when he had a breakout game against the Saints. With 8 targets, 8 receptions, 146 receiving yards and a touchdown, the question of who was the WR2 in Green Bay was thrown right up into the air. After that game, it emerged that Lazard had mysteriously had abdomen surgery and was placed on IR. Although tipped to be coming back for each of the past two weeks, Lazard was activated off IR earlier in the week but his status for week 11 remains in question.
I’m not confident that Lazard, if he plays, will fulfil a large role in this offense against the Colts but, if he’s on the field, it’s another target for Rodgers to go to who isn’t called Marquez Valdes-Scantling. I recommended earlier in the week that you trade MVS whilst his price is the highest and against this Colts secondary we’re about to see why – particularly if Lazard is on the field.
