College Football: UK TV Preview Week 11 – TNF Special

UNC Tar Heels (5-4) @ Pittsburgh Panthers (7-2) #21 – Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Friday 12th November – 12.30am

Pittsburgh 6.5 point favourites at the time of writing

on Thursday night/Friday morning, a top quarterback matchup, by many metrics, hits our screens as Sam Howell and Kenny “Baby Hands” Pickett will go head to head in an exciting ACC tilt which given Pitt’s current run of form could have some serious implications in the ACC title race.

Let’s start with the favourites and the 25th ranked team in the nation in Pitt and the elephant in the room. Kenny Pickett, he’s somehow managed to insert himself into the conversation amongst far more talented names in regards to being a first round pick. This game will prove what he’s worth as he goes head to head with another top quarterback in Sam Howell. Kenny does have a ton of weapons at his disposal though as both wide receiver Jordan Addison and running back Israel Abinakanda have made their fair share of plays for Pitt as they’ve fought to a 7-1 record on the season. Their lone loss being a tight game against Miami which you could tell really ticked the players off.

If you want to read more about Kenny Pickett, you can check in and see if he is the savour of this year’s draft class here.

Now to Sam Howell and his Tar Heels as they walk into Heinz Field looking to stop the Panthers dead in their tracks carrying all the momentum from their shootout against Wake Forest last weekend. Sam Howell will be looking for Josh Downs early and often as the star wide receiver continues to have a stellar season in powder blue.

Ty Chandler will be pounding the rock too a useful weapon on early downs as the Tar Heels look to tire the Panthers defence early to open up some deeper plays for Howell down the stretch. This game is going to be a war and despite Pitt being the favourites this game will certainly be closer than anyone expects. It’s just dependent on if the Tar Heels can keep up the pace they did last week.
