2021 Dynasty Rookie Power Rankings Draft After Week 1

What’s up guys, @loganbrown0805 here taking a recap of the 2021 rookies after Week 1 of the NFL season. Each week I will bring a review to see where these guy’s rank base off the rankings of the prior week. I used Fantasy Pro’s Rookie Rankings to get a ranking prior to week 1 and below is a quick snapshot of the first two rounds. (P.S there’s a new number 1). Each week I will use my rankings as shown below.

For Travis Etienne he was removed from this list due to his season ending injury.

  1. Ja’marr Chase- WR ⮝ 3

Did Chase put the haters to sleep? Let’s hope so. Chase moves up to the top player of the 2021 rookie draft after his explosive week 1. The 21 year old was targeted 7 times, hit the over on the 100 yard mark and scored in his debut. The first wide receiver taken in the 2021 draft had a rough offseason with drops, lack of separation and getting up to NFL speed. It’s week 1 but Chase look’s to be the real deal.

  1. Devonta Smith ⮝ 2

Hurts to Smith will be a problem this year.  Smith could be number 1 in my rankings but Chase broke the 100 yard mark so he gets it this week. They could be interchanged quite often this year but Smith had 8 targets (led the team) and targeted in the red zone. Next week Smith has his first real NFL defensive test against the 49er’s. Reconnecting with his college QB (same with Chase/Waddle), will continue to grow in the NFL.

  1. Najee Harris ⮟ 2

Harris had 16 carries in week 1 (every carry from the running back position), targeted 3 times. Harris didn’t show any reason why he can’t be in the NFL and be a playmaker this year. The Steelers were behind in this game and had to go off script. I think Harris has the big game dynasty managers are looking for next week against the Raiders who let the undrafted rookie Ty’Son Williams go for 65 yards an 1 touchdown on 9 carries.

  1. Jaylen Waddle ⮝ 3
  2. Trey Sermon ⮝ 7

Raheem Mostert out for the year, Sermon gets a big jump up my rankings. 23 carries in the first game for San Francisco’s running back. If you watched this game, it was a crazy game that had the Lions making a big comeback. The 49er’s had the ball for 26 minutes week 1, while the league average was 30 minutes. Look for Sermon to get more of the ground and pound approach to go with his 3rd round pick stock. He was a healthy scratch week 1 so week 2 will be his regular season debut.

  1. Trevor Lawrence (no change)
  2. Kenneth Gainwell ⮝ 15

Over 4 yards per carry and a touchdown in week 1 with an improved Philadelphia Eagles offense? Gainwell gains momentum going into week 2. He finished as the 2nd overall rookie RB (Elijah Mitchell went crazy) in fantasy and was getting production on the field. Boston Scott didn’t touch the ball this week and I think dynasty owners were surprised how much he was involved. Gainwell was targeted 3 times and had red zone work. I am all about Gainwell.

  1. Terrance Marshall ⮝ 2

If you are trailing the number 1 overall fantasy pick in targets on a pass happy team, I think you are doing something right. His week 1 stats aren’t impressive, however if DJ Moore gets the #1 treatment going forward, Darnold can look for the big target. He is a nice compliment to Robby Anderson & DJ Moore.

  1. Dynami Brown ⮝ 9

Not much to say other than he has an every down role (93% of the offensive snaps) which is helpful for getting fantasy production. Brown has a new QB due to Fitzpatrick’s injury, and has a chance to earn his trust. With Curtis Samuel on IR, he is shown to be the WR 2 on the team.

  1.  Amon’Ra St. Brown ⮝ 7
  2.  Rondale Moore ⮝ 3
  3.  Elijah Mitchell ⮝ 18

If you run for over 100 yards in an NFL game, you deserve to be mentioned in this article. Mitchell was not on many fantasy managers’ roster prior to week 1. Mitchell jumps up into the mix of seeing what the next week can bring.

  1.  Zach Wilson ⮝ 3
  2.  Michael Carter ⮝ 1

Woof, rough outing for Carter. 5 touches, competition in the backfield with Ty Johnson and Tevin Coleman. Looking like a fantasy headache each week to be able to understand who gets production.  This is a long term hold for now.

  1.  Trey Lance ⮟ 2
  2.  Justin Fields ⮟ 7
  3.  Mac Jones⮝ 3
  4.  Elijah Moore ⮟ 10

Curse you Corey Davis for being good at NFL. Moore had dynasty managers hyped up prior to week 1 with the preseason buzz. He caught 1 of his four targets week 1 but he gets Jamison Crowder back next week. I am fading on Moore’s production going forward.

  1.  Kadarius Toney (no change)
  2.  Nico Collins ⮝ 7
